A large Britannia standard silver tankard made in London 1702 by Timothy Ley. Slightly tapering from bottom to top,flat lid with scroll thumb piece, and " S " shaped handle.These large beer tankards were covered to protect the contents from the flies that were attracted to the mild temperatured beer.Hallmarked on the side and on the cover, as shown, and engraved with contemporary armorials on the front and initials on the handle .185mm high to the top of the thumb piece; 886 grams.
